How To Make A Happily Ever After (W.W.5 - Group 1)

6. Make an egregious mistake in the culture she is based on. If your movie is based on a true story, change the facts in irrevocable ways that would seem unacceptable to anyone who understands even an inkling of the true story. Assume your audience has no such knowledge.

7. A major point of the plot should be that the attributes addressed in number 5 will cause the girl to disappoint her father.

8. Create a touching moment between father and daughter involving the girl’s dead mother. For example, have the father give his daughter some sort of trinket that belonged to her mother or have him say “she would have been very proud of you.” Under no circumstances should this be a major point in the plot, it should be a short scene that you assume your audience will not remember at the end of the movie. You will put this in the movie under a heartfelt obligation to put it in and for no other reason.

  1. This is absolutely hilarious and I really don't think you missed anything. The only thing I would really expand is the individual passages themselves. I liked the ones that had more specific examples better, though the "Kill her mother" one is just perfect.

To take this to "the next level," you could try adding a deeper meaning/meditation throughout the steps, maybe on obvious topics like feminism or not so obvious ones of your choosing. You start to do this at the end and you could work it in earlier. But honestly, this is a really fun piece as is and it's a cool reflection on what we want in a "happily ever after."

  2. This is a very cool piece in the way it combines happily ever after with an "Assemble like so" approach. The writing is quite good and it keeps me engaged all the way through. It took me a couple reads to completely grasp the overarching theme but once i found it i was like: cool.

  3. This is a very interesting piece. I think there is a lot working for it. It is obviously well thought out with a lot of details. It is very well written but I actually think it would be easier for the reader if there were written allusions to some of them. I can tell you base some of them on disney movies and I don't think it would hurt at all to just mention a movie with the step. It is very nitpicky I know but it's just a suggestion and it was very well done.
